An industrial training report carried out at Awoja riverside farm and leisure park in Soroti city.

Abstract

This industrial training was conducted at Awoja Riverside Farm and Leisure Park specifically on vegetable growing. The training-took ten weeks starting from 28th march to 6th May 2022 and the information was got through discussion, consultation with field assistant and some students. A lot of skills were gained. This report has four chapters and two appendices.

Chapter one; contains and explains the background, location, mission, vision, values focus and collaboration/partnership of Awoja Riverside Farm and Leisure Park.

Chapter two: Contains description of attachments like importance of cotton growing, its ecological requirements, why cotton growing declined agronomic practices like weeding, thinning, spraying; gap filling. Common pests and diseases, pests like fusarium wilt, veticilium, wilt the symptoms and control measures like cercospora leafspot causes defoliation and it’s controlled by destroying plant residues and planting resistant varieties. Vegetable growing which include; green paper, eggplant, onions, watermelon, sukuma -wiki and beetroot with pest and diseases which attack them. Nursery bed and seedbed establishment and their management.

Chapter three: contains and explains the skills gained, responsibilities undertaken, influence of the training and correlation of the sections.

Chapter four: contains the conclusion, challenges and recommendation.
