In the training process the field supervisor would guide me on how to carry out antimortum and post mortem inspection on the animal to be slaughtered. Most of the time the intern students perform tasks through consultation and observation of the chain of command in the unit. The field supervisor also delegates task of inspecting and condemning the animal with infestation of disease or part of the animal affected with worm, disease or poison and then passing it out for human consumption.
The process of internship training made me to acquire more skills and experience and they include skills of restraining animals, formulation of feeds, treating and deworming of animals, spraying; communication skills, leadership skills and report writing skills.
However, the training was a success, some challenges were also faced such as not willing to complete dosage by some farmers, reporting the sickness of animals late when they are in critical conditions and also illegal slaughtering of animals or slaughtering of dead animals. In order to overcome the above challenges LCC should sanitize farmers on how to manage their livestock for better production and also providing drug carrier with drug in it. to intern students to be used in the field.
