Abstract:
The industrial training was carried out in Jeressah Animal farm for a period of 10 weeks since it is one of the animal husbandry units that was started way back in 2010 with in the school premises the report also show details of background, location, climate, vegetation, and ethnicity.
It also describes the activities the students carried out in the field i.e. observation palpation and diagnosing calves with suspected ECF tail docking of sheep, cleaning of poultry equipment, Feed formulation, feeding of young turkeys, turning of litter in poultry houses, Removal of used up litter from poultry houses, Replacing of litter in the poultry houses. Treatment of bullocks against Anaplasmosis, deworming of heifers, Treatment of heifers with suspected mastitis, spraying of shoats, Vaccination of poultry birds, Castration of bullocks, Foot trimming, PD, Feeding of poultry birds, Meat inspection, Control of mice in poultry birds, Removal of retained placenta. I treated both poultry and other animals in the farm against TBDs such as
ECF; Anaplasmosis, Heart Water and Babesiosis and in poultry I did vaccination against NCD CCPP, Gumboro, and deworming .1 also did management practices like spraying, tail docking of sheep and cleaning of equipment's using detergents, and removal and replacing of litter plus turning
The farm had a number of section as indicated in the introductory part of the report i.e. poultry section, Dairy section, shouts section, rabbit section. This helped to impart students with knowledge and skills of Animal Husbandry in Agricultural field. Despite the fact that there were a number of challenges, I conclude that there should be proper facilitation of the project
whenever requests are made. I therefore recommend that more sections should be put up e.g. Piggery section because it will contribute to more emphasis in practical Agriculture.
