A report on industrial training carried out at Alebtong district local government under the production and marketing department.

Abstract

This field attachment training has been carried out at Alebtong district under department of production and marketing for a period of about three months the district is situated in lango-sub region northern Uganda and it is bordered by four district of LIRA, AMURIA, DOKOLO and OTUKE. The District headquarter is located approximately 48km by road task of lira district 28km by road north of Kampala which is the capital city of Uganda, the coordinates of the district are 02.1 8N and 33 ,8E. The district created and become operational on the 1st July 2010 and now it has 8 sub counties of Omoro, Abako, Aloi, Awei, Amugu, Abia and Apala sub-county. The demography of the district in 1991 was 112600 and in 2012 it was 22600. On the other hand, the training has help me transforming theoretical knowledge in to practical knowledge, acquisition of leadership skills and record keeping. Within the training season we carried many activities search as ante mortem & post-mortem inspection vaccination of pets and mass treatment of animal. with required drugs, pregnancy diagnosis and also techniques of drug administration, carrying out livestock management practices like ear tagging, dehorning etc. The training under this production and marketing department was successful and we urged the administrators to fight so hard to avail the farmers with necessary equipment as this low production including farmers training such that information regarding animal health and management reaches the farmers at the local lower level.
