An industrial training report carried out at Uganda government prison Soroti main.

Abstract

Soroti Government Prison is one-of the Government institutions located in Soroti District. It is situated approximately Ikm along Soroti — Moroto high way opposite the Flying School. The institution' is well known for its key role of safe secure humane custody and rehabilitation of the offenders, while placing human- rights at the center of their correctional programs. The institution keeps over 7.72 inmates who are under custody and are being rehabilitated and trained in various fields including agriculture. The institution also offers training to other groups of community members who come for learning like intern students. This year, our training covered three key areas of agricultural enterprises like; horticulture, zero grazing and carpentry work shop training. Under horticulture, three (3) horticultural crops were under ease study. (i.e., onions, green paper ltd I got good production and management skills starting from nursery bed, reparation and management, seed bed preparation transplanting, weeding, spraying, irrigating vegetables etc. While in carpentry work shop, I learn many things I like.; different types of work shop tools and their uses, gluing and mailing of wood. sandpapering and vanishing of timbers etc. and under zero grazing unit, I learnt advantages of good hygiene in zero grazing unit, control of externa and internal parasite, skills etc. Soroti prison is a vel), good institution for mentoring students because it has got very many good varieties of' agricultural activities where student can learn from. On addition to that I also got good leadership skills imparted to me by prison officers.
