An industrial training report carried out by Nekesa Sharon a student pursuing a diploma in crop production and management at BUAC from 28th Feb to 6th May. The main objective was to apply class room lessons in to practical's and gain more knowledge and skills.
I carried out my industrial training at SOCADIDO which is a Christian based organization established in 1981 overseen by well constituted board of governance, secretariat and community-based structures across Teso sub region. SOCADlDOs vision is to realize a prosperous, self-reliant and peaceful Teso community with a mission to contribute to improving sustainable socio-economic wellbeing of vulnerable groups. it implements its programs through an integrated and collaborative approach using community-based structures e SLA- it intervenes in a wide range of socio and economic development like BINS, AG and climate change.
On my arrival to SOCADIDO, I and other colleagues had a meeting with HR where we familiarized with each other and we were oriented, given rules and regulations governing the organization and some activities. with each other and we were oriented, given rules and regulations governing the organization and some activities.
On our second meeting the HR introduced technical staff members that are responsible for taking us through and guiding us through the entire period of intern on the activities. during my internship, I carried out the following activities; composite making and its maintenance, nursery bed setting and its maintenance, transplanting of seedlings, desuckering, pruning, field work with farmers, charity work, meetings, making of a sack Mont etc.
However, there was prolonged sunshine that hindered timely implementation of some activities but my training was successful I gained a lot of skills like farmer approach, making monthly report etc which has left me confident for my future career.
I conclude and recommend that the organization should purchase irrigation systems to avoid depending on rain fed agriculture.
