Abstract:
The study was carried out from Bukedea Town Council with the objective of giving students a hand on experience on animal production and management and chance to stay in the farm during the recess 16th may-22nd July 2016.
Chapter one elaborates the introduction of BUKEDEA TOWN COUNCIL, mandate, mission and strategic objectives of the town council e.g., development of infrastructure and so on.
Chapter two explains the activities carried out which include census, health inspection, record keeping, spraying, weighing, weaning, e.g., identifications, ear tagging, branding, deworming, treatment, artificial insemination, collection of blood sample goat breeds for example Sahiwal crosses, zebu cattle, Ankole cattle to mention but a few. Procedure of spraying of cattle, procedure of treatment of various drugs to animals different sites of branding in animals, procedures of restraining animals, procedures of weighing of animals, procedure of identifying ages of animals.
Chapter three talks about impacts and challenges of industrial training e.g., hunger during the exercise, inadequate transport facilities to ease transportation, inadequate drugs for treatment.
Chapter four talks about conclusion and recommendations, this concludes how the training exercise went on during the period of attachment at the town council and also advices forwarded to the university.
