A comprehensive industrial report conducted at Ngetta Zonal Agricultural Resarch and Development Institution (NGetta ZARDI).

Abstract

The following are the units found at Ngetta ZARDI and I managed to visit different farm units. with' their respective production as listed below. Goat unit small ruminant: the most common breed of goat reared at Ngetta ZARDI are local breeds and some exotic breed on -the enterprise. Goats are also looked at and reared largely for production milk and meat. The number oof goats would have been large. but the kids and the adults are largely attack by parasites and also poor management attained to them.

Dairy unit; undern this enterprise at the farm. animals are kepi at different categories in different sizes as many are milked every morning and evening respectively. The units are less productive due to poor management of the unit leaders and not forgetting climatic and environmental factors.

Adaptive research: under this this unit. different crops are conducted like data collection on beans, fertilizer application on specific soil climate and phscio-eeonomic. environmental characteristics of a given are and the crop were; maize, rice, beans and many others. The reason to carry out adaptive research includes:

• To determine resistance of crop against pest and diseases • To get crops those are tolerant to harsh climatic conditions.

Aquaculture. In this section. fish are reared in ponds. There are two species at fish reared in the institute and they include eat fish and tilapia. These are the objectives aquaculture at Ngetta ZARDI:

• Incon1e earning. for the institute • Learning purpose for the researchers Livestock feeds.

Some of the challenges at the institute include poor management by the technician, poor means of Communication from both the students and the staff at the institute.
