Abstract:
This report contains and describes the activities that were done skills and knowledge attained by students, challenges faced in the course of the training, conclusion the report and the recommendations that were got from the training. The objective of the study is to benefit students with the practical knowledge and skills applied the theoretical knowledge got from the classroom and the field and also derive confidence in them.
During the training, orientation was done in the first weekly the farm manager, group allocation to the different crop and animal department where we were introduced to the banana plantation where we carried out weeding, pruning, manuring, seedbed preparation, field marking, at the crop section. While at the animal section, the activities performed include; cleaning, mixing feeds, disease diagnosis, drug identification and use, worming, treatment, disbudding, spraying, castration, pasture planting.
These activities benefited us a lot and we attained a variety of skills such as treatment of different diseases, castration, feed formulation, communication skills and self-confidence.
Although during the it, we were faced by challenges such as prolonged drought that affected the crop section mostly and also part of the animal section, insufficient support staff. Therefore, I would like or recommend the university to recruit more support Staff to relive the present staff from overload.
