Abstract:
Industrial training took a period of five weeks and two days that was carried in Soroti district veterinary office under district veterinary officer Dr Eyudu Patrick to equip me with the knowledge of the field and guide me on. how to handle challenges in the field as an extension worker as well as the farmer. During the training, we carried out vaccination programs against foot and mouth disease and Rabies in pets animal.
We also carried out meat inspection from Soroti municipal abattoir, in-this abattoir on average 14 heads of cattle are slaughtered on a daily basis and about 50-60 heads of goat. The meat common diseases found in animal slaughtered were fascioliasis, CBPP, CCPP, Echinoccocus worms, Anaplasmosis among others. We also participated in deworming of pigs, spraying and treating of ECF, Anaplasmosis and also office activities which also included cleaning of the office and organizing the office, reception of visitors who come to the office for consultations, vaccinations of pets and to buy vaccines. We participated also in feed formulation and mixing for pigs, injection of asteroid hormone to a female dog. We also found out that some farmers are reluctant to government programs of vaccination where few can participate in the programme.
Some of the common diseases were tick bone diseases like ECF, Anaplasmosis, among others.
