Industrial training report conducted at Abi Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute, Ayivu East division, Arua city.

Abstract

This is the brief summary often weeks industrial training report, I, carried out at Abi ZARDI which is public Agricultural organization mediated to conduct and manage adaptive agricultural research development and disseminate improved agricultural technology relative to West Nile agro ecological zone (WEAEZ). It covers thirteen districts within the west Nile.

Abi Zonal agricultural research Centre works under three programs that is Natural and crop resources research that involves: crop agronomy, agroforestry and soil fertility, second is animal resource research that is involved in agriculture, livestock which Includes goat rearing and dairy animals, aquiculture and apiary, finally the technology promotion and outreach program that covers rural sociology, social economist, planning, monitoring and evaluation officer and communication.

The main objective of the field attachment was to obtain practical skills, knowledge and experience in the diverse field of agriculture that help to improve the knowledge of students in applying theoretical approaches studied in class to the real life experience, different skills I, learnt during field attachment in different units of the institution include crop entomology, pathology which in clouds identification of crop pests and diseases basing on their signs and symptoms and damages cause, field setting , practical aspect of disease diagnoses prevention, control and treatment in livestock, pink eye treatment, fish pond constriction measurement feeding and feed managements in pond and the different es of hive that is traditional, transitional and modern hives.

Although the training was successful done, however there were some challenges faced during my field attachment. That is Inadequate tools and equipment's that makes some of practical's not to be carried out, few number of animals in the institution and lack of accommodation for intern students, problem of wireless network and power as well.

Therefor out of all this challenges I, do recommend the following to be done by institution to overcome the above-mentioned challenges. The institution should purchase more tools and equipment's to be use in the farm, there is need to increase number of animals in the farm, the institution should increase the number of hostels such intern students can be accommodated with the institution premises.

In conclusion industrial training was successful done as I, acquired much of the practical skills and knowledge during my field attachment.
