Abstract:
This report is of Industrial training field activities, which were carried out in Moyo District with Moyo District Local Government production department veterinary services & animal industry from 28th Feb to 3rd May 2022 as scheduled by the university, the report is elaborated in four chapters' i.e. Chapter one of this reports highlights on Introduction and back ground of industrial training, where industrial training is a practical field experience for every student who have finished one year of study in Busitema University with the aim of transferring theories learnt in class to real practical in the field within communities. The district’s core values which is commitment to openness, honesty, fairness, sensitivity, responsiveness, accountability, deficiency, professionalism, quality and excellence. The districts vision, which is to have a prosperous community that is peaceful, literate and productive for sustainable development.
The district mission statement that is to achieve sustainable social economic development through efficient delivery of quality services to the community in line with the national program priorities and local significant needs for improved quality of life in the district. And the Purpose of the attachment for Industrial Training which is; To acquire experience in various field conditions, to gain further skills and knowledge and develop new areas of interest, to apply theoretical concepts and school-based skills to find practical and others. Chapter two highlights on the description of field activities performed during the attachment that include: - Diseases investigation/Disease surveillance in livestock, Control and treatment of animal diseases, Aspect of Veterinary Public health (meat inspection), outreach and Extension (community sensitization), Minor surgeries (for example cases of Aural Hematoma, castration, Amputation and others) Chapter three of this report highlights on the impacts of the attachments that include the skills and qualifications that I gained from the attachment, e.g., Skills include The different methods of restraining animals, Drawing of blood from the jugular vein and use of vacuum container, The different incision points during meat Inspection and appreciating the internal anatomy of the internal organs and systems among others. Chapter four finally summarizes on the conclusion and recommendations of the attachment which include the need to provide enough equipment for use by staffs and student trainees. There is need to have routine prophylactic treatment of animals to help prevent some outbreak of disease, The organization should improve on the status of the veterinary public health facilities like slaughter slab among others. At the back and last pages are the appendices which include the work plan and the field photos.
