This is the industrial training report carried out at BUAC from 30th FEB TO 15 th APRIL 2022 from the farm premises. The training objective was to transform the theory learnt in class into the practical form and the mission is to have a transformed generation in years to come. People were from different programs and groups were formed according to the program of individual for example CGA, DCP, DAP, BAB although other activities were shared by most programs like pasture establishment, each group was assigned a leader.
Different activities were given to different groups where they had to manage for the whole time of the training individually in the group. In DAP program I was in DAP A Group where we were given to manage Napier grass.
Besides the specific assigned activities each member in the group, weekly rotational activities were assigned each group a total of about 10 rotational activities or sections were attended by DAP A group. Among others are the following; dehorning in cattle, castration in pigs, hygiene management in Goats and treatment in all, pasture establishment and weeding etc.
It was generally observed that besides much theory learnt in class; there was a need for practical work. As practical sounds as the cornerstones and back bone of the knowledge. Here students were so much expos d to different field activities e.g., disease diagnosis and Treatment of different cases
It was observed that the major problem affecting our animals at the farm was the eye worm problem which partially brought blindness and internal external parasites which required our attention and always still requires the attention of trained personnel after us
On so meeting and dealing with different cases, am able to carry out the diagnosis and treatment of most case, therefore knowledge acquired.
The University should therefore empower students on knowledge of specific cases on different departments on various sections for easy managing of cases.
On so doing, the industrial training activity remains the key component that actually bridges the gap between theory and practical.
It involves transfer of theory knowledge to practical knowledge as a student is a ble to relate the two knowledge and also add on the new knowledge. |
