Abstract:
This industrial training was carried out at Amelia Agro Africa limited farm in Buyikwe District, in Nakwanga kikubamutwe for two months that is from. 28th Feb to 27th April 2022 mainly on crop, animal, fish, black solder fly seed processing and formulation sections at Amelia farm.
Objectives of this industrial training was to enable students’ interaction with different people in their respective professions of all levels like supervisors, employers and employees, to acquire knowledge in managing crops, animals and other agricultural activities to require skills which are practical and to relate them to the theory studied from classroom and to get exposed to the outside world.
The IT activities include; poultry management, piggery management, fish farming, rabbit keeping, feed processing and formulation, weeding, black solder fly breading, spraying, potting of Soils transplanting, cattle and goat management, crop management and so on. The IT enabled me to acquire skills in formulating feeds for different types of livestock like pigs, poultry; cattle and goats, land preparation for nursery beds, crop protection by spraying using a knapsack sprayer, leaf defoliation, harvesting, and breeding black solder flies for maggots that are given to fish as food.
The challenges faced during the IT language barrier, inadequate funds and was overcome by getting someone to help me interpret the local languages of some works on the farm and requesting other money from home.
