A report during industrial training at Livestock experimental station- NaGRC & DB.

Abstract

This internship carried out at LES which is part of NAGRC&DB in Wakiso district, it's under the ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and Fisheries, for a period often weeks ,had the main objective of equipping the interns with the practical aspect to enhance the theory aspect undertaken while at the university, various activities were carried out during this period were in the sections below which make up LES; poultry, hatchery, diary, cattle, feed technology and piggery sections which included but not limited to; vaccination, brood management, hatchery management, egg sorting, assembling, candlings disease diagnosis, treatment, pasture parasite control, record taking, feeding poultry birds, among others. There various structures used for animal handling and machinery for easing the work since the farm has many animals, they include; spray race, cattle dip, shade for animals in the zero grazing unit, milking polour, calf pen, hatchery, poultry -houses, feed cutter, feed mixing machine and tractors. During this training we encountered various achievements which made our theories true i.e., we gained skills in various activities like treatment, diagonosi, egg candling among others, and challenges i.e., poor weather which hindered activities tike feed harvesting, spraying and feeding of the animals. Nevertheless, we completed our ten weeks. internship, we thank the almighty for that, and the entire management of LES not forgetting my fellow students.
