This report is about Industrial training which is the work experience that is relevant to academic and professional development of a student prior to the graduation where students put into practice what has been theoretically learnt through observation, practical demonstrations.
It was carried out at Teso college Aloet farm found in eastern region Arapai sub county Soroti district alongside routine academic programmes at the end of first academic year for a period 10 weeks which commenced on 20th May 2019 to 26th July 2019 always from 7:00a.m to 12:00pm from Monday to Friday of every week of study done by visiting different farm sections of both animal and crop departments where field supervisor guided us on different attachment practical activities carried out like; meat inspection, cleaning, feeding, weeding, castration, staking, fertilizer application, spraying crops and animals, farm structure, treatment of sick animals, equipment identification. etc. were carried out during the attachment hence exposing me to actual working environment and enhance my knowledge and skill from what I have learnt in the university, equipped me with practical and hands-on skills needed in the world of work, enabled me interface and get exposure to the dynamics of applying theoretical knowledge to real industrial routine operations, etc. hence gaining me knowledge and skills in crop and animal production and management, besides challenges faced like Inadequate equipment weather changes, hanger, distant places, weeds etc. However, the attachment activities were successfully carried out helped me to apply the principle and techniques which I theoretically learnt in class rooms. e.g., vegetable production, castration, crop pests and I recommend the farm to get adequate equipment to facilitate learning during the attachment. |
