Internship report on activities carried out at Naro Nabuin Zonal Agricultural Research and development Institute (Nabuin ZARDI) in Nabilatuk district.

Abstract

Livestock production is the main activity supporting livelihoods for most pastoral and communities in Karamoja. In order to refuse on food security among vulnerable rural populations in the region, NARO (Nabuin ZARDI) aims at developing and disseminating appropriate agricultural technologies in its mandatory zone (Karamoja and Teso sub regions) for sustainable livelihood and human development. I IKILAI MARY GORETTI arrived to NABO on 28/02/2022 when the industrial training was commencing and successfully completed on 29/04/2022. Throughout the training period, the activities carried out were basically on Livestock production and management under animal resource research program. They include fish sampling, determining feeding potential f fish, tick profiling, tick control, weight determination, age estimation, post mortem meat inspection, animal traction, gastro intestinal parasite management, animal health inspections, animal treatment and under crop I participated on data collection on tree species, establishment of nursery bed, and development of abio pesticide. Basing on the purpose of industrial training which was to equip me with knowledge and skills, methodology of monitoring and evaluation of research in advanced agriculture, most of the activities were successfully done or completed, however the institute needs to reagitate most farm structures in livestock section.
