Abstract:
This report shows an outlook and impacts of the work that did during my industrial training in Moroto District Local Government. I was attached to Katikekile Sub County where had the opportunity to effectively utilize time allocated to me for my industrial training;
In objective state, I was able to obtain first-hand information related activities such as; minute taking supervising FAL asses, monitoring government activities, making research issues food distribution of elderly community mobilisation to carry out nursery bed preparation and management, planting techniques and other agronomic practices such as, breeding, post-harvest handling. Activities were properly planned and sufficient time was allocated to each of them. AII in all, it helped me to put my theory into practical's.
It was indeed a wonderful experience which every student requires in order to get a National diploma in crop production and management. The major challenging part of it was prolonged dry spell the affected our demonstrations in the community, difficulties in accessing some communities due to poor road network in adequate resources to facilitates our work in the field for example Few pencils during FAL classes' exams.
I proudly recommend that with the knowledge got I can now guide the farmers to establish nursery bed, mobilize farmers to take action on developmental issues, advise them and teach them in several field activities like pathology breeding agronomy, entomology.
During my industrial training J acquired practical skills and knowledge on nursery bed preparation, land survey site selection agronomic management skills, post-harvest handling skills, marketing skills, water harvesting methods, improvement malnutrition rate, supervising exams, various income sources such as SAGE, Mining, charcoal, firewood, sale of Grass, CDD project yourth livelihoods projects VSLAs. Water sources for irrigation. And minute taking during meetings etc.
The district was able to enrich us with knowledge in various fields as far as our training was concerned some challenges were identified and possible solutions were suggested for the smooth running of the sub county activities.
