Abstract:
My field attachment was conducted in Co-operation and Development at Tapac sub county in Moroto district and Nadunget town council from 28th Feb to 22rd April/2022 and was aimed at gaining an opportunity to exchange and gain experience in the application of theoretical knowledge in the related field of Agriculture.
The projects are owned by the organization of co-operation and development and deals majorly on animal section and crop section which consists of so many activities, a number of animal and crop management practices were carried out during my stay at the fields such as de-worming goats, spraying goats against ticks and lice and mange, disease diagnosis in cattle, potting at the green house, training farmers in VSLA record keeping and also training farmers in bee keeping.
Doting the IT under animal section where was allocated, I carried out various activities that included ear tagging of the cattle and microchip implant palate to cattle for identification,
While in the training, I learnt a lot of things both practically and theoretically that gave me more knowledge to add to that one that we learnt from class about crop and animal production, lot of activities were carried out from the field with maximum care to avoid problems during data analysis.
I therefore recommend that the university should further continue to strengthen its linkages with the relevant organizations that promote agriculture and environmental sustainability as a tool to fight the diverse impacts of climate change. Also, the organization should continue to disseminate its technologies of soil and water conservation to rural farmers, promote rangeland management, and continuously check on the progress of its activities on the ground.
