Abstract:
This report discusses the detailed activities that I carried out at Kasolwe stock farm in Kamuli district during my internship which was on for 9 weeks from the 28th of February to the 6th of May 2022. The farm was undergoing renovation and at the same time being upgraded where new infrastructure was being established including the feed processing plant, new dairy unit, poultry and the pig sections.
During my industrial training, the following are the activities I carried out, post-mortem, castration, pregnancy diagnosis, disease diagnosis and treatment, deworming, branding and artificial insemination, pond construction, liming and fish stocking, fish identification, sexing, and sampling, feed formulation, rationing mixing, machine processing of feeds, maggot production, feeding of livestock, cattle dipping, spraying of goats, ear tagging. I the course of the training gained skills in post-mortem, pregnancy diagnosis, artificial insemination, disease diagnosis and treatment management of livestock in terms of feeding, feed formulation rationing and mixing, Machine processing of feeds, maggot production, fish farming and pond construction. I also faced some challenges like long distance from the place of residence to the training station, language barrier with some staff. In conclusion my industrial training went on successfully and it has helped me build confidence in my profession anu gain experience, I can now have carried most of the practical activities in the course am pursuing. I recommend the farm to construct a laboratory to enable practical during post-mortem, a cattle shade for the local herd of cattle and also provide meals for students at farm.
