A report of industrial training carried out at agriculture development centre (ADC) Mpigi district

Abstract

The internship was held in Mpigi district at Mpigi town council for ten weeks. The main objectives of the industrial training were: • To acquire practical skills in the field to boat the theoretical knowledge gained from the class. • To know how to carryout Crop disease diagnosis and inspection. • To know how to control different crop diseases e.g. coffee wilt disease by uprooting and burning. I carried out very many activities during the 10 weeks of industrial training ad n there include: planting tomatoes at spacing of 60cm x60cm, planting passion fruit the Kawanda hybrid variety at spacing of 6m x 3m, staking tomatoes planting cabbage drum head variety at spacing of 60cm x60cm, making irrigation in nana garden, visiting cocoa farm, data collection, visiting coffee farmers pruning coffee, planting beans and control pests and diseases of crops among others. Industrial training was good because I managed to acquire very many skills for example; I gained skills in identifying different orange varieties like Valencia and Washington naval, passion fruit like Kawanda hybrid, local purple variety and yellow variety among others. The major challenge was high prices of fuel because we had to move from one place to another but we could be limited by the high price of fuel.
