This report contains and describes the activities implemented, skills and qualifications gained, challenges faced during the industrial training, conclusion of the report and recommendations derived from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). The objective of this industrial training is to make students benefit from the skills and knowledge gained from the fields, apply the knowledge they get from the classroom in the field and build self-confidence. During internship I was attached to crop inspection and certification department. this was followed by orientation, then implemented the activities that include, seed testing in the laboratory, determining moisture contents using digital and oven methods, germination media, how to carry out top paper germination media, seed, how to break seed dormancy using chemicals, planting of legumes. Planting of cereals, how to sample seedlots, breeding of beans, premise inspection for suitability for agro input and agrochemical shops in Eastern region, tetrazonium tests for carrying out viability test, germination test evaluation of seed crops, Distinctness, Uniformity and Distinctness tests (DUS) for potatoes and rice finally cassava inspection how to conduct outreach for technology promotion. I also faced some challenges stated in chapter four. In conclusion all the activities were implemented and industrial training was carried out successfully. I was able to gain a lot from it. I was in position of getting practical skills and knowledge in line with my career and relating with people in the field. Much as I were successfully done, there were also some little challenges which hindered the smooth running of the training. |
