Abstract:
Internship is a course module that gives students a chance to use classroom knowledge in the field and gain hand on experience in the entire job market. It is carried out by university under the supervision in the respective place of attachment. I carried out my industrial training from Kadama town council under the production department for a period often weeks. During industrial training, I was attached to the production department under the supervision of Mr. Bonyano Thomas. Under his supervision I conducted various activities in correlation of my career for example management of coffee fields through stumping, fertilizer application, teaching farmers on enterprise selection, potting, harvesting of shoot stocks, soil sieving, watering, offering extension services to farmers and among others. I gained my skills during industrial training such as interpersonal skills, communication skills of managing coffee fields, cleaning and sorting of potted plants, grafting of mangoes, cutting of polythene bags for potting covering of tunnels and among others. The industrial training was done successfully apart from a few challenges among which were shortage of funds to finance some actives, shortage foods, language barrier, as well as weather that did not allow us to reach some places as, planned. However, these challenges were addressed by the Kibuku district local government through my field supervisor and myself by reducing my budget to minimize unnecessary expenditure. Allocating time to compensate for the host hours due to unfavorable weather changes, provision of language interpreter to solve language barrier problem. All this were made a success due to the effective cooperation between me, field supervisor' and other staff members of Kadama town council.
