Abstract:
Industrial training is an assessment activity carried out by internship students and guided by the responsible field supervisors and academic supervisor during internship program.
The purpose of industrial training is to make students benefit from skills and knowledge gained from the field, apply the knowledge they get from the class r in the field and build confidence in the students. During the internship, I was attached to the department of crop and animal were I was able to gain skills and knowledge on both sections.
We were grouped into different groups were I was attached to DCP group A were I learnt different activities such as pruning of tomatoes, spraying, dehorning, disbudding, disease diagnosis in goats, field marking, treatment of pigs Seeding of dairy cattle etc.
I was attached to Mr. Muhindo Williams and other field supervisors who guided as on different farm activities during attachment program,
During internship program, I also faced some of the challenges such as, harsh climate conditions, inadequate equipment for carrying out activities etc.
Despite the fact that they were some challenges faced, I would like to conclude that the attachment activities were successfully done and I was able to gain a lot of skills and knowledge in line with my future carrier plan
I would like to recommend that the university provide enough equipment for smooth running of the attachment activities in the farm.
