dc.description.abstract The industrial training which is carried out is meant to expose student to practical skills in the field environment to prove their employment and future studies to gain knowledge and skill in their relevant fields. During the period of two months, I conducted my industrial training at Mulanda Sub-county lower Local Government, Tororo District, and production department being supervised by Dr. Patrick Omam as a field supervisor, the senior assistant secretary of Mulanda Sub-county as the immediate supervisor and the District production officer Tororo as the senior supervisor. Mulanda Sub-county is located in the western part of Tororo District about 30km from Tororo town. The production department of the sub-county was established with the aim of improving the production and productivity of livestock e.g bovines, caprines, swin, ovines, poultry, among others. The department is headed by the D.P.O, D.V.O, D.A.O, Fisheries officer at the District and at the Sub- county we have the Agricultural officer, Fisheries officer and Assistant Animal husbandry officer. To achieve the above aim, I involved myself in many activities in the field such as: > Meat inspection; this was to ensure that any meat released in the market is safe for human consumption to reduce the spread of Zoonotic diseases. > Treatment of animals; this was to improve the general health of domestic animals. This was done under different section like; Deworming, Spraying, Diagnosis of disease, Vaccination. > Castration; this was to improve on the quality of animals and their products. > Training of farmers; this was to encourage them to take farming as a business. > Livestock Vaccination to prevent some diseases e.g. Newcastle disease in poultry. > Monitoring of owe inputs especially was done on cattle and goats. The above activities were carried out successfully however among challenges like long distance, rigidity of farmers, among others. Therefore, I concluded that Animal production can only be improved so as to be profitable if farmers follow all the proper management practices such as proper feeding, proper housing, providing adequate water, vaccination, treatment, deworming and spraying above all mind-set change towards farming en_US
