Abstract:
The industrial training was carried out at National Semi-arid resource research institute
(NaSARRI) from 28th/2/2022 to 6th/5/2022. During this training I was attached to five departments (programs) which include cotton program, oil crops program, farm management, dry land cereal program, and dry land legume program.
The main objective of the training was to equip students with basic practical skills in relation to the theoretical knowledge learnt in class. This report comprises of four chapters which include chapter one containing background location, mission, vision, mandate, objectives and organisation structure.
Chapter two contains activities that were performed and they include agronomic practices of cotton, identification of cotton varieties emasculation, selfing and crossing of cotton varieties, pest and disease identification, postharvest handling, packing, counting of seeds, emasculation of flowers, weighing of 100 seeds of groundnut, farm management e.g.
metrology horticulture, pasture management, animal traction, mushroom production. Then other activities on dry land cereals and dry land legumes i.e. identification of varieties, field marking, pest and disease identification, sorting packing and bulking
Chapter three contains skills and qualifications, responsibilities, challenges faced, influence of the training to my future career and correlation of the attachment with the class work knowledge
