Abstract:
I compiled this study report during industrial training that began on Monday 28 tW02/2022 and ended on Friday 6th/05/2022. The training was for ten weeks and was carried out at mountain harvest SMC ltd in Mbale city in Uganda. The work was under the supervision of Mr. Wasembula Brian, the certification officer mountain harvest.
This was to fulfill the requirements needed for the award of a diploma in crop production and management Busitema University, putting much of the theoretical knowledge got in class in to Practice, acquire practical skills in farm management and get exposed to the working environment.
The student participated in several activities; soil testing, germination testing, control of maize stalk borers; using push pull technology, diseases diagnosis and control and coffee production (chapter two)
These activities were done out of proper time allocation and management as my supervisor was eager for me to learn much from the field. On the same note, challenges faced by the internee relevant skills acquired qualification acquired, responsibilities undertake and how the attachment is going to influence my future carrier (chapter three).
In chapter four the study report presents the conclusion and recommendations, the appendices which contain tables, map of mountain harvest, the daily activity work plan, photographs showing the different activities carried out.
The recommendations suggested include, provision of improved seed varieties to farmers, provision of more extension services on post-harvest handling, fertilizer and chemical use to farmers by the Government,
The skills and experience I have acquired during the training have empowered me to become a potential Assistant Agricultural Officer.
I have been shaped to support, guide farmers and farming communities' crop production and management.
