Industrial training report carried out in Mpigi Town Council

Abstract

I carried out my I.T in Mpigi district in the central region and it took a period of 10 weeks. In the district vet office, staff are engaged in the prioritized activities battling to improve the conditions of farms not only conducting field works but also lab examination at the office. They connect or link the field to lab to gain more efficient, effective practice. This is through blood and feacal examination. During my l.T, I participated in various activities including Disease surveillance and control, farm visits were conducted, pregnancy diagnosis, castration, meat inspection and others. Among the farms we visited was Staali investments farm, Nsaamu Estates Farm located in kyaali parish, Nsaamu zone owned by Mr.Buuye David. Personally, I participated in castration, PD, proper diagnosis and treatment and conducted them successfully in conjunction with the district veterinarians. I was also trained in lab diagnostic techniques and learnt standard veterinary lab techniques by the experience of the lab technician. I encountered a number of challenges including inadequate funds for facilitation, high transport costs among others
