Abstract:
Industrial training attachment at Busitema Arapai campus farm involved work experience and sharing of technical knowledge and skills like crop pest and disease investigation ,crop propagation, animal treatment and disease diagnosis etc., that are relevant to professional development for the final year students, Industrial Training constitutes a complete module of the training which is full of hands on activities in attachment programs like, orchard, cattle, greenhouse, piggery, dairy and so many others.
With this multi attachment program activities I carried out at Arapai campus farm land on crop and animal sections make Busitema university Arapai farm to be better place for learning and research as internees are equipped with applicable life skills on crop and animal in the field as general. The objectives for internship and university are achieved like improving quality research and innovation, to share knowledge, skills and facilities with the public and private sector, to enable the trainee gain technical skills and enable trainee to be expose to the working atmosphere. The methodology used for acquiring the above objectives include; crop propagation, animal treatment and disease diagnosis in livestock, crop pests and disease diagnosis and management.
Therefore, the training was so good as I was able to acquire technical and practical skills of farm management for both crops and animals. Despite o the challenges I encountered for instance prolonged drought which affected some activity programs, delayed supervision, Inadequate equipment' s and facilities like well-equipped science laboratories for research purposes.
