Industrial training report for the period 16th May 2016 to 22nd July 2016 at Gulu district local government

Abstract

The main objective of this attachment was to equip the student with practical skills in various agro based activities and technologies. This report embraces all the knowledge got from the attachment and other books read for information about Gulu District Local Government and its background information. This report also is a description of the entire activities conducted and challenges encountered in my industrial training at Gulu district local government. The field attachment was carried out at Gulu District Local Government from 16th May 2016 to 22nd July 2016. The activities implemented or done during internship included: Seed germination test, training of farmers on New varieties of potatoes i.e. Orange sweet potatoes and iron beans. I also participated training of farmers on vegetable growing where all the agronomic practices were learnt, also a training on ginger production was implemented and lastly bee keeping was also done covering all the necessary practices in bee keeping. However, some challenges like moving for long distances during the training of farmers and also changing weather conditions that hindered some activities projects that were implemented. In summary, field attachment remains a necessary tool for equipping students with relevant practical skills related to their fields of study. In this case, I was able to put the theory to practical use of the knowledge attained at school under the activities that were implemented during the industrial training that was carried out from Gulu District Local Government.
