Abstract:
This outreach program was carried out by group A members of Arapai A at Arapai village, Arapai sub county for a period of 6 weeks from 12th March-16th April 2021 in Arapai A located in Soroti district, Arapai Sub County, Arapai A village 2km North-Eastern part of Arapai Campus where most of the activities were conducted. The study was aimed at guiding farmers on agronomic practices and new innovations and technologies introduced to them by students. This report is structured with the following; Summary of introduction, backgrounds objectives of the outreach, methodology e.g. participatory, observation, and data recording method used during visits to the host farmers homestead, and description of activities like, orientation, nursery bed preparation, pruning, earthing up; site selection, management practices as well as photos attached to each activity carried out, resources used, achievements to the student, farmers and to the University at large. While on the other hand, it also gives a Success story as narrated by a farmer during students conduct at the field, challenges encountered and how we managed to overcome them recommendations made to the students, farmers, and to the university not excluding conclusions drawn from the community outreach. Finally, the last but not the least Annex showing the work plan of outreach activities carried out by group A members of Arapai A at Arapai Sub County, Arapai A village. In conclusion, I always look forward for the training and mentorship, and support rendered to me by the management and staff of Busitema University Arapai Campus, May the almighty God blesses you all in your different capacities.
