dc.description.abstract This report contains and describes the activities carried out, trainings carried out, knowledge and skills gained, challenges faced during the industrial training, the conclusion of the report and recommendations derived from the challenges faced at Atlas Livestock Dairy farm. The objective of this industrial training is to make students benefit from the skills and knowledge gained from the field, apply the knowledge they get from theory in classroom lectures to practical and hands on in the field and build confidence of the learners. During internship I was introduced to livestock production in Atlas livestock dairy farm. This was followed by orientation where I was first introduced to the farm management, farm structures, farm sections and equipment and animal species for example cattle, camels, goats, sheep. Cattle breeds such as dairy cattle (Friesians, Guernsey, Jersey, Ayrshire breeds), beef breeds (boran and salwar). And later I was allocated to particular sections in the farm where I carried out the required activities with my group members weekly, under full supervision of the Head of Livestock and the farm supervisor. The sections of allocation include main feeding house where all dairy animals are fed, boran house, milking parlor, isolation rooms 1&2, calf pens 1&2, breeding bull section, goat unit, camel section, spray race and cattle crush, parking yard and the entire compound and I had class room lectures on animal diseases, drugs, treatment. I also carried out activities like spraying, general cleaning, milking, deworming, record keeping, dehorning, docking, ear tagging, pasture establishment, outreach on poultry, outreach on treatment of community animals against trypanosomiasis, castration, meat inspection and market engagement, bucket feeding, silage making among other activities. I was able to learn a lot from the training and I was in position to gain practical skills and knowledge on livestock management, health and marketing of livestock and their products. During internship, I also faced some challenges that were addressed in the course of the training. In conclusion all the activities were carried out well and industrial training ended successfully. en_US
