A report about industrial training carried out at Teso college Aloet (TCA)

Abstract

Internship is a practical module under taken by all students in Busitema University during their recess term and is basically from 28th February to 26th of April 2022 to help students acquire more practical knowledge and skills in respective field of study. The placement was done at TCA which is a government secondary college with a farm which was registered in 1954 with the ministry of education and sports. Above all the major projects which were implemented first were dairy, crop enterprise and poultry production and management. Lectures, brainstorming and practical sessions were the major methods employed during the training to train the students, Practical session were carried out under the supervision of farm manager both on the farm. The mode of learning used helped me to gain practical skills such as disease diagnosis and management of livestock diseases, goat castration, pineapple and banana production and management, tick identification, treatment, meat inspection, Despite the appreciable magnitude of the achievement, I faced a few challenges such as the too hot weather, limited access to farm equipment for dehorning, hoof trimming, nursery bed tools to fully accommodate the overwhelming number of internship students and unavailability of modern farm structures. However, I successfully concluded my internship and I do recommend TCA to increase on farm technicians, stock more drugs and construct modern farm structures for the future internship student.
