dc.description.abstract This report provides information on activities which I participated in the groundnut section during my internship training from NaSARRI Serere for 10 weeks from 16th may to 22nd July 2016 as directed by BUAC for award of certificate in DCP program and it consists of four chapters. Chapter one introduces the background of NaSARRI, location, mission, vision, mandate, objectives, department and organizational structure. Chapter two also shows background of groundnut, importance, its botanicals, agronomic practices like early planting, recommended spacing, weeding, and crop rotation and fertilizer application. Other aspects of pests and diseases and their control measures, groundnut improvement programs at NaSARRI like scouting flowers for emasculation in the glass house, crossing and tagging. In addition to that, disease identification was done for example groundnut rosette disease early and late leaf spot, groundnut leaf rust and aflatoxin and also pests like aphids, leaf minor, thrips and termites were visually identified practically in the field. I also had variety identification from serenut 1-14, serenut series advanced lines and Roguing. This report summarizes many different activities like data collection and here there are different types of data I collected like germination count at emergence stand count, flower appear, rosette count, leaf spot and rust. Chapter three describes the skills gained, responsibility and how it will influence my future career are also included. And finally chapter four shows problems encountered, conclusions and recommendations. en_US
