The industrial training carried out in Teso College Aloet farm by the students from 16th May 22nd July 2016.This practice was carried out by transferring the theoretical knowledge from the class into practical in order to expose students to the field of work and to create time between the farm and the students to the whole nation. The activities that were carried out in the farm includes; weeding of cabbage, onions and green paper, identification of pests and diseases on maize ,cabbage, green paper, onions and citrus, spraying and treating of the farm animals, potting of ornamental flowers, weed identification, making of the nursery beds, spraying, harvesting and budding of citrus and application of organic manure and fertilizers cleaning of the poultry house, piggery unit, slashing, feeding piglets, chicks digging, and also meat inspection. I achieved my objectives in a short time given through my industrial training learnt how to bud, where to get the liver flocks, tape warms and TB from and what is supposed to be done before an animal is slaughtered. But I also faced the challenge of not having the enough equipment to be used during the process. However, with great impact, I do highly recommend that industrial training program should continue to expose the students to the field work with a lot of practical knowledge and confidence such that at the end of the course students are real agriculturalists. |
