A report on skills and qualifications obtained during industrial training at SOCADIDO.

Abstract

This report provides information on description of activities being implemented during the training, skills and qualifications gained, challenges faced during the industrial training for a period of 10 weeks. The objective of this industrial training. was to make students acquire practical skills and mote knowledge in addition to the classroom work, expose students to field work, improve on the student's competence, build confidence and their career agriculture. During internship training, was attached to the department of crop production and also got involved in to so many activities which for example, compost manure making, transplanting of seedlings, establishment of a nursery bed, setting up demonstration gardens among others. This report dissolves all the activities I carried out during the industrial training in the different chapters. Chapter I basically looks at the introductory part of the place of attachment for the training, chapter 2 covers the activities carried out during the training, chapter 3 involved skills gained, influence of the training on my career and the correlation of activities with classroom work, chapter 4 looked at the challenges faced during the training, Conclusions arid recommendations. Some of the skills I obtained during the training were, Compost manure making, professional ethics, management of the banana plantation, skills on grafting, budding and layering, good communication skills among others. Despite the fact that the internship training was interesting and enjoyable, there were also some few challenges like the change in climatic weather condition like rains which somehow interrupted with some of the activities for example. learning in the field. Another challenge was inability to learn some few basics of animal husbandry due to the limited time being allocated for the training. Above all, the equipment and tools for work were few thus making the work slow. With the above listed challenges, I recommend the organization to set up animal sections and not only crop in order to invest in both heavily and also help internship students to gain skills and knowledge in the both units. Despite the challenge, I had a very great time at SOCADIDO and gained many skills that will really help me develop my career in agriculture perfectly.
