This industrial training report contains of four chapters and clearly shows and describes the details of activities practical performed in five sections at Nakapiripirit SBDI that included; vegetable and fruit growing, livestock and pasture management, Apiary, open field and tree planting
I was actively involved in these five sections and I would attend two sections per week so as to learn more from different sections for the different activities that were taking place in farm weekly
Chapter one; This chapter introduces the reader to Nakapiripirit SBDI that is its location, background, mission, vision, objectives, funding’s etc.
Chapter two; Describes the different activities I was involved in and carried out stich as planting seeds in tray nurseries, transplanting of vegetables, ear tagging, dehorning harvesting of honey and propulis, record keeping.
Chapter three; This describes the impact of industrial training to me as a student such as the skills I gained e.g. proper handling and mixing of chemicals, harvesting of honey, the responsibilities like daily record keeping, watering of seedlings, the influence on my future career plans that is ensuring growing and producing quality and quantity crop, animal and bee product producing free from diseases and pests as well as the correlation of the activities with my class room knowledge.
Chapter four; This chapter states my conclusions and recommendations concerning my entire training, in conclusion Nakapiripirit SBDI is a good farm site for students in agriculture to learn for both crop and animal production and management for it has equipped facilities and trained personnel and recommend the SBDI to train Artisans and farmers the local organic farming ways such as organic pest and disease control since many local farmers may have no money to buy chemicals [pesticides] and also build houses at the farm to accommodate the Artisans for them to stay near and begin their activities early especially milking due to insecurities in Karamoja region. |
