Abstract:
This report was compiled during my industrial training that lasted for 10 weeks in Busitema University Arapai Campus farm. The major purpose of this. training was to gain practical skills and experience, expose student to current emerging issues in agricultural production in this competitive world, understand the relationship between agricultural training production and extension services and communication skills essential in agro based industry.
The activities I did were; deworming, spraying cattle & goats against ticks, cleaning the pig sty, aging in cattle and goats, cleaning the feed and water troughs in feeding birds, planting of banana suckers, planting of citrus, weeding and spraying crops cypermethrine to control pest's like American bollworm in tomatoes, pruning and roughing of tomatoes, harvesting egg plants, establishment of Nursery beds plus identification of diseases in both animals and crops.
During the course of the trainings I learnt how to plant citrus, aging in cattle and goats, how to plant banana sucker, feed formulation in poultry, treatment of goats against Pneumonia, maintain hygiene on the farm, giving feeds to pigs at different ratio using different feeds. In addition to that, I also learnt how to write Curriculum vitae during AVSI training. However, I faced a few challenges like; unfavorable weather conditions, inadequate provision of equipment and tools among others. In conclusion, the industrial training was successfully done and I would recommend BUAC to purchase equipment and tools such as slashers and hand hoes to ease activities like cleaning around the farm structures.
