Industrial training report carried out in Soroti municipal council

Abstract

In summary, am perplexed and glad to have completed my internship on a positive note. I managed to perform the following activities: organizing the office, carrying out farmer trainings concerning agricultural(crop) production and veterinary public health related issues e.g. meat inspection, silage making, extension services to farming communities, discussion with the fellow trainees and field supervisor, lectures by the Production officer/Head of Department. I achieved the following during my industrial training: Extension skills and knowledge, coordination and training skills based on Crop production and management. In spite of all these achievements, there were challenges associated with transport to and from the field, unfavorable weather conditions e.g. uncertain rains, low adoption of technologies by farming communities, time for field work and personal activities was not easily divided during the field attachment, The field attachment goes a long way in improving my professionalism particularly the knowledge and skills learnt in the lecture room now accompanied with field practical experiences and working closely with the farming communities and forging away on how to overcome the day to day challenges on Agriculture as a backbone of the economy of the country. For better service delivery by the Soroti Municipal Council Production Department office I recommend the following: setting of demonstrations at farm level, continuous sensitization and training of the farmers and cattle traders and recruitment of more extension work.
