Abstract:
The training was carried out at Ngetta Zonal Agricultural and development institute in Lira City, Northern Uganda. The institute deals in a number of activities which includes; Aquaculture, Agroforestry, Livestock, Germplasm, annual and perennial crop production, poultry rearing.
During my industrial training I was involved in a number of activities such as cleaning, milking, treatment and feeding in the goats and diary budding and grafting in horticulture unit and many others like field marking, potting, weeding and watering of the seedling. I gained a lot in this industrial training as acquired a number of skills and knowledge that can expose me to the world of work as well modelling my future career.
The institute faced a number of challenges like few technical stuffs, lack of enough water source, most of the officers do their work during the working hours which was a disadvantage to us.
I faced a number of limitation during the course of training e.g. the workplace was far from, where I was living, some supervisors used to be away when I need them.
I recommend to the institute that they should provide the internees with accommodation for smooth training and better time management.
The students should participate in the practical skills and gain more knowledge that will expose them in the world of work.
