Abstract:
The industrial training was carried out at Busitema university Arapai campus farm located in Arapai sub county, Soroti district, 10km along Soroti—Moroto road from 28 Feb 2022 up to 01 May 2022.
A number of animal and crop production and management practices were carried out during my industrial training at the farm such as: cleaning pig sties, feeding disease identification in animals, ageing both cattle and goats, record keeping, planting citrus seedlings, spraying cattle and goats, pasture management, managing horticultural crops such as tomatoes, egg plants and green pepper.
The program activities I carried out during the attachment at Arapai campus farm land on both crop and animal sections make Busitema university Arapai farm to be better place for learning and research as internees are equipped with applicable life skills on crop and animal in the field as general. The main objectives for internship d university are achieved like improving quality research and innovation, to share knowledge skills and facilities with the public and private sector, to enable the trainee gain technical skills and to enable trainee to be expose to the working atmosphere. The methodology used for acquiring the above objectives like observation, interviewing, interaction, writing, recording and physical practice.
During my training I have been exposed to effective communication which expanded my relationship between partners of the institute and people around, team work and good relations with the other interns. Hopefully with the training that I gained, I can be able to contribute towards the national development in future.
