The research study was “the impact of human activities on sustainable tourism development in Uganda” a case study of Murchison falls national park. The study objectives were; to examine the impact social cultural activities on sustainable tourism development, to establish the impact of economic activities on sustainable tourism development, to examine the impact of agricultural land use activities. The researcher based on behavioral theory and the theory of sustainability to explain more about the dependent variable and the independent variable. The researcher used a cross section research design for data collection that was made for data collection about the target population. This design the was used to enable collection and analysis of descriptive data that ensured the study describes the true nature of the prevailing condition. The study population was (45) and the target population was (40) from which the data was collected, the researcher later used sample technique of collecting data and this was simple random sampling and it was carried out in four departments of the park. The data sources were both from primary and secondary which helped the researcher to be equipped with much information. The data collection method was through use of questionnaires which were close ended and were measured in five Likert scale point. The analysis of data was carried out through the use of a computerized software (spss) and qualitative statistical techniques were used to describe and summarize data. The presentation of data was done through use of tables which hold results of correlation and regression and bio data. Then the findings were made basing on different objectives which a researcher to give a clear conclusion of the findings. The recommendations were made to the park to improve on its performance through deploying qualified personnel who enable the smooth running of tourism activities. In conclusion, human activities have created a positive change through carrying out afforestation, shifting cultivation, participation in cultural dances and festivals and trading among others. |
