dc.description.abstract In Nagongera Health Center, patients’ records are usually kept for future use. The main aim of this project was to design and develop an automated system or managing patients’ information in the hospital. This system is to solve the problem recording the patient information, be it medical, personal, financial or legal on a paper is at risk of thievery, fire outbreaks, misplacement by the employees and even petty things such as handwriting legibility. An automated patient record and information management will be necessary because there are a lot of difficulties in maintaining a large amount of information on paper especially as there is usually no backup for the information, access to information can prove difficult and time -consuming if it has to be searched for , and accuracy is needed in the recording of vital information and chief medical personnel cannot oversee all the written documents, it is therefore vital for Nagongera health Centre to have an automated patient records and information management system The general system development method used in Structure System Analysis and Design Methodology from which the RAD was selected and a prototype developed. The following were also used; data flow diagram, Unified Modeling Language, system architecture, context flow diagram, backend database. The data collected using different methods was analyzed and integrated with the help of Entity-Relationship Diagrams and Enhanced Entity Relationship Diagrams. They were developed using such as Microsoft Visio studio. Project management tools such as Microsoft project professional were used to present the time schedules for the system development procedures, task dissemination and ordering. en_US
