A report on industrial training carried out at ecological Christian organization at Nabilatuk district from 22nd /08/2022 to 14th /10/2022

Abstract

The industrial training placement has always been assigned to students by the university in order to put classroom knowledge into practice to understand and be exposed to practical experience through research, extension work with an organization. The industrial training was carried out at ecological Christian organization in Nabilatuk district for a period of two months and during the industrial training my colleagues and I performed many activities that include; we attended a training on anti-human and child trafficking, online general staff meetings to share weekly updates, VSLA approach, training of the groups on business ideas, record keeping, post-harvest handling practices, training of the farmers groups on how to make liquid manure, supported farmers groups in weeding, watering, mulching, staking, root pruning of the tree seedlings at the green house, vegetable and tree nursery bed establishment, potting of seeds in to the pot bags, data collection on goats status that were distributed to the beneficiaries by AWO project under ECO, During my industrial training, I gained vast knowledge and skills that include; VSLA approach like how they formulate the rule and regulations of group, the interest rate and how they share their savings, how to share weekly activity updates, how to control ecto-parasites, good communication skills and report writing skills etc. Although the industrial training was successful, I faced a few challenges however I do recommend the following to ECO: support active farmers who are willing to save, organizing field tours for interns, purchase a piece of land where the interns will be busy practicing most of the good agronomic practices and climate smart Agriculture (CSA) technologies to make them busy when there are no field activities.
