A report of industrial training at Busitema university Arapai farm in Soroti district - eastern Uganda carried out for a period of eight weeks from 19th June-11th August 2023.

Abstract

This report is about the industrial training that started from 19th June 2023 - 11th august 2023. The report consists of four chapters described in detail. Chapter one introduces the reader to the report. It contains details of where the internship was conducted from such as name of organization, its historical background, vision, mission its location, beneficiaries and any other thing one would like to know about the organization. Chapter two contains description of the attachment. It describes the activities performed by the internees in detail. These activities were performed under five main i.e. dairy production and management, goats section, poultry production and management, piggery and horticulture. The other activities such as value addition were a sub section of the five sections mentioned above. In general, we carried OUT basic agricultural management practices in all the sections. Some of the practices under livestock included, cleaning, feeding, dehorning, castration, disease diagnosis and treatment, hoof trimming, brooding etc., whereas in horticulture they included weeding, watering, mulching etc. Chapter three of this report contains impact of the attachment on the internee. This impact involves skills obtained, social condition of the environment during internship, challenges faced among others. The impact was positive on my side since I gained several skills such as the skill of brooding chicks, making organic liquid manure and pesticides, value addition and many management skills in livestock production and management. The last chapter of this report is made up of conclusion and recommendation. In my conclusion, the it was a success and I recommended some improvements in some sections especially the piggery section. This report also contains appendices showing some pictures during IT and references where one can read in detail.
