Recess term report carried out at Uganda Wildlife Authority in mountain Elgon national park.

Abstract

The recess term covered a period of eight weeks, during which activities were carried out at UWA in Mount Elgon National Park, specifically at Kapukwai Forest Exploration Center. Chapter One introduces the internship program and outlines the historical background of MENP, the management of UWA and its organizational structure, departments, uniqueness, accommodation facilities, maps showing the size and location of the park, and the activities conducted in MENP. Chapter Two discusses the materials and methods used in the field to achieve the internship objectives at MENP. It also presents the results, discussions on internship issues related to tours, travel, and hospitality, and a proposed tourism issue at the internship placement. Chapter Three provides a detailed description of the materials and methods used at the work place, presents results and discusses findings based on the internship objectives, outlines activities carried out during the recess term, identifies areas for improvement, and presents a proposed work plan and how it can be achieved. Chapter Four summarizes the skills acquired and their relevance to professional and career growth. It also evaluates the organization’s strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and the level of accomplishment of other activities assigned by the field supervisor, including their relevance to professional development. Chapter Five presents the overall conclusions, recommendations, and references.
