dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating role of internal control systems in the relationship between communication and project risk management among youth livelihood projects in Pallisa District, Uganda. A cross-section study design was adopted. With a study population of 224 projects, 140 were selected to participate in the study basing on Krejcie and Morgan (1970). Data were analysed using SPSS while Medgraph program was used to compute the mediation role of internal control systems in the relationship between communication and project risk management. The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between the variables; communication, internal control systems and project risk management. Also, the findings depict internal control systems as a partial mediator in the relationship between communication and project risk management. On account of the study findings, the study recommends that project managers should seek and provide relevant information to project team members in a timely manner as this helps in the process of risk identification and response planning. Also, project managers should give more attention to control activities such as segregation of duties, record reconciliation and custody of project property since these are seen to be drivers of project risk management.
