Industrial training is a course module that is conducted from either within or outside the University with the intention of imparting practical knowledge and skills to students. I conducted my internship from Njeru Stock Farm P.O. Box 171S, located along Kampala Jinja, 5Km off Nyenga road, Kiryowa village, Buikwe District for 8 weeks from 28/ Feb to 22/April 2022. The key objective of this training is to enable us as students apply the theory learnt at the University and put it into practice, get more knowledge in the field so as to know how to work the community and be able to solve some of the challenges they are facing outside. During my industrial training, I carried out several activities specially on animal production and handling and these were Dairy Management such as feeding, milk hygiene, udder health and cleaning milking utensils and parlor, Record keeping, Cattle dipping, Disease diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as E.C.F, Babesiosis and Mastitis, Deworming, Calf management such as feeding colostrum and bucket feeding, Artificial insemination, Ear tagging, Dehorning and disbudding, Animal breeding and genetics and finally Pasture management and improvement During my internship, I gained a lot of skills in both Animal production and handling that is to say. I gained a skill in disease diagnosis of different diseases. I also learnt how to dehorn and disbudding, I gained a skill on how to train calves to bucket feed, a skill on how record keeping is done. A skill on how ear tagging is done. Despite of the activities and skills gained at the Farm, I faced some challenges such as un favourable weather conditions that hindered the implementation of some activities at the Farm, poor roads especially in rainy seasons, climbing of the hills to the Farm was tiresome but however in the other way round it was a source of physical exercise to my health. And above challenges can be solved by construction of roads to the Farm. Conclusively the training was successfully done due to co-operation and maximum efforts maintained between internees, Field supervisor and the rest of the staff of Njeru Stock Farm.en_US
