A report on the activities carried out during internship with Soroti district local government veterinary department from May 20 to July 26/2019.

Abstract

Industrial training is one of the course units carried out in Busitema University. It is done outside class and it's all about interaction between the farmers and extension workers. I did my internship in 10 weeks, from 20th May-26th July (Two months and two weeks) and was divided into 2 sections: In the office, we attended to farmers who had different problems, vaccinated many dogs against rabies that the owners were able to bring and cleaning, arranging of the office vas all done. In the field, we diagnosed and treated the animals with the help of the technical expertise, inseminated cows, dewormed, sprayed cattle, pigs and shoats, vaccinated birds against NCD, cattle against CBPP, gave prophylactic treatment Cattle and ear tagged them and attended training workshops. However, during my internship the major cases encountered include, CBPP, ECF, anaplasmosis and helminthes infestated animals and recommendations made were; for the veterinary sector to construct crushes and carry out tick control and massive treatment schedule, and advise farmers to carry out prompt and regular deworming.
