A mobile wallet for micro savings.

Abstract

The main objective of the study was to design and implement a mobile wallet for micro savings that allows a mobile user to save airtime on his/her phone and later exchange it for cash (mobile money) after a defined period of time This report describes the design, development, implementation and testing of a mobile wallet for micro savings. First I gathered requirements, downloaded development tools, and interacted with existing mobile wallets to study how savings are done. Thereafter, I came up with designs for the mobile wallet using Android Studios. This release was to evaluate the efficiency of the User Interface. Due to the fact that Mobile Network Operators do not open their source code, I had to write an SMS processing API to handle mobile money payments by matching SMS data. I used regular expressions to extract the relevant data.
